Repository of UN Women’s work on technology-facilitated violence against women and girls

United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women)
What is it?

This repository reflects UN Women’s work addressing a critical and growing form of violence that disproportionately affects women and girls worldwide.

Technology-facilitated violence against women and girls (TF VAWG) includes any act committed or amplified through digital means, leading to physical, sexual, psychological, economic, or social harm.

Rooted in power imbalances, patriarchy, and misogyny, TF VAWG not only exacerbates existing forms of violence like harassment and intimate partner violence but has also led to the emergence of new forms of abuse, especially in the rapidly digitalizing world.

HIGHLIGHTS

Through this repository, UN Women also fosters multistakeholder collaborations, such as those under the Generation Equality Action Coalitions on Gender-Based Violence and Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality.

This repository stands as a resource for policymakers, practitioners, and advocates, equipping them with the insights and tools needed to combat technology-facilitated violence and create a safer digital space for women and girls.
